Senior Moment

I have been thinking a lot about my grandmother as she is not in very good health right now and I have been remembering of all the best and funny times I have shared with her. You would have to know my grandma to know that she is not very affectionate and she doesn't say I love you much, but you just know that she loves you and that you mean a lot to her. Anyways I thought of the funniest story and I wanted to share it with you:

So my mother and my grandmother are sitting in my grandmother's living room chatting. (And by chatting I mean most likely talking about a relative that has ticked them off most recently) and the telephone rings.

Grandma: Hello? ....... Hello? ..... Speak up I can't hear you!!! (Yelling into the phone) Blahhh ahhhh aggggg ahhhh!!!!

She then places her hand over the receiver of the phone and whispers to my mother as she is handing the phone over, "They want Charles" (Charles is my dad) Although I was not there I can only image my mother's face as she takes the phone from my grandma and tentatively says, "Hello?".

Best part, it was a recording!!

Where Do Babies Come From?

So I was watching a T.V. show where one of the individuals is pregnant and this particular episode was showing the ultrasound and the following is a conversation I had with my son:

Gabriel: Is that a baby in there?

Me: Yes

Gabriel: How does the baby get out? Through the belly button?

Me: Ummm Yes that is exactly how it happens!

Gabriel: I bet I was hard to get out.

Me: Well I did it.

Gabriel: Wait a minute how come I have a belly button if I'm not allowed to have a baby!?

Me: Ummmm ..Well that is also how I fed you when you where in my belly.

Gabriel: That's weird!

And he runs off to his room, probably to convince his older brother where babies come from. I really hope I don't have to have this conversation again with Darian because something tells me he won't be falling for the belly button story.

Another School Year Done!

Well another year bites the dust! The years sure do fly buy while you are busy working, going to school, doing chores, and basically just living day to day. It seems that sometimes, if not most times, I don't have time to stop and smell the roses or maybe I am just not doing the best job at time management, anyways it is a work in progress as is everything. I just can't believe it has been nearly a year since my last blog. So here is what is going on now.

Alexis just finished her 6th grade year. She finished with a 4.o and was the outstanding 6th grader of the year. I am so proud of her and it seems that she got all the best qualities that her dad and I have. What can I say, she's the best!

Darian just finished his 4th grade year and I can not wrap my head around my little Day-Day being a big 5th grader next year. He really kicked it up a notch this year and ended on the A honor roll. This did not come as easily, but well worth the hard work.

Amaya just finished her 2nd grade year and I still have a hard time realizing that she is growing up. She is a lot like her sister and just excels at school and just really loves school and learning. She also loves being a little helper to me and she is irreplaceable.

Gabriel just finished kindergarten!!! He is super excited about being a 1st grader and when I did not show the appropriate amount of enthusiasm he told me that it was fine that he would still be a little kid until he is 8 and then 8 to 16 is a big kid, so that's good to know. He was not always the most excited about school, but he did great, better than I expected really. Great job Gabey.

I will be finishing my 2yr degree in July and I am still undecided about continuing or just being done. I feel like I have really accomplished what I put my mind to, but I usually feel like I can do just about anything I put my mind to.

Brandon is the lucky household member who doesn't have to go to school or study. He is doing great and I don't know how I would have gotten everything done without him. He is also irreplaceable!

Barkley is going great, best dog I have ever had. He is quiet and does his business outside, what more could I ask for out of a pet. He loves Amaya and where ever she goes he is sure to follow. In fact, shadow would have been a perfect name for him, but Barkley is just who he is.

Sorry it has been so long and I will be hoping and praying to post more often.

XOXOXOX

Crystal

Family Update

I know that I haven't blogged since Christmas, but in my defense I have been really busy. I will try and catch you up on my family news.

First, I would like to say that school is going pretty good. I have completed 44 credit hours, I have a 3.50 grade point average, and I made the Dean's list for the spring session. Currently I am in an accounting class and it is awful, but I'm working on it.

Brandon is doing great with his diabetes and have lost about 45-50lbs in the last year. He also had a birthday on 8/12 and is now a whopping 29 years old, which is fine because I'm older and that is always the punch line.

On 8/13 Brandon and I celebrated our 11th year wedding anniversary. For our anniversary we went to Old Chicago and the food there is amazing. I would say that if you haven't been that you should it is really great food.

All the kids started school this year on 8/11. The kids now go to an k-8 school so they are all still in the same school, which I think is great. Alexis is in the 6th grade, Darian is in the 4th grade, Amaya is in the 2nd grade, and Gabriel is in kindergarten. They are all doing really well and Gabey surprised us all by doing great at school and he didn't even cry.

We also added a puppy to our household. It's our new little baby! His name is Barkley Jazz Thomas and he is a toy poodle. I will include update pictures in my next blog.

Until next time....c-ya

Christmas Time "Glad It's Over"

I just thought I would share some pictures from Christmas

This is Brandon and his brothers Andre and Jason. They took this picture so I could give a copy to their mom for Christmas.

This is my Granny S., She turned 90 on 12/20/09 and we threw her a party. Isn't she the cutest? In this picture she was laughing at herself.

This is a picture of Granny S with all my kiddos.

All the girl cousins............Awwwwwwwwwwwww

And now the boy cousins, from shortest to tallest I guess....We did not make them stand that way

Gabriel Christmas morning (And yes I made them pose for pictures before they got to open their presents..Insert evil laugh here)

Amaya with her presents, She is missing one of her front teeth and the other is loose and I really wanted it to come out so I could torture her with the "All I want for Christmas" song, but it was not to be!

Darian does not have his glasses on and I'm not sure how well he could see me. Daddy got a new housecoat for Christmas, so Darian is wearing Dad's old housecoat here.

And this is Alexis, she was sort of hiding behind the couch and opening her presents, so this is as good as it gets picture wise. Bad hair morning huh, do not tell her you have seen this picture!

Now for those of you who no longer believe in Santa I'll have you know that he left a letter this year. It was really professional looking and he must carry a laptop because it was typed and printed out. And this is what it said:

Dear Thomas Children,

Merry Christmas! You all have been very good this year. I hope you enjoy all of the special toys I picked out. Alexis, you are always a good helper to your parents, and a great big sister. Darian, you are always so caring for others, that is a quality I hope you keep forever. Amaya, you are sweet and have been doing pretty good keeping your room clean. Gabriel, you keep being a good baby brother and good luck at school this year. I hope each of you keep up the good work for 2010. Remember I am watching!

P.S. Thanks you for the yummy snacks.

I can't explain the looks on each child's face as Santa praised them for being good, but is was priceless. Gabriel wanted to know if he had to go to school "tomorrow".

I hope you all had a great Christmas, We were especially blessed this year. Have a great New Year.

OK I'm updating!

OK OK! I really suck at updating my blog and I'm sorry out there. :) So let's catch up on what's happened since my last update.

I had a birthday which I really don't want to talk about or acknowledge, however, no one will let me forget about it. So I turned 31, big deal right? That's still pretty young right? I like to tell people I'm 24, but my kids always rat me out and it's kind of an inside family joke. On my birthday I went to lunch with my friend Sara who's birthday is the same as mine. We went to O'Charley's and then on a small shopping trip. I also went to my mother's and ate some pumpkin pie, which is a staple for my birthday since I don't like cake.

Right after my birthday is the Fall Festival. This is a street fair here in Evansville and we love to go. The kids ride rides, play games, eat awesome food and get their faces painted.

School started back up for me. This session I'm taking composition and computer literacy. Right after this session I will be taking Algebra, which I am not looking forward to.

Alexis also had a birthday on 10/13 and she turned 11. Now that the kids are getting a little older we have done away with parties. So on her birthday she picked what we had for supper, enchilada casserole. And homemade cake with ice cream. Then we planned a special day with just me, her and Brandon. She picked Gatti Town, which is like Chuckie Cheese, but way better. They have a buffet of pizza and pasta with different themed rooms to sit in. Afterwards she still had some extra cash and we walked over to Toys "R" Us and she spent the rest of her money on what ever she wanted. It was a great night and it was nice to spend time with just her. I really want to take advantage of this time, because soon she won't be caught dead with us.

Darian had a birthday on 10/21, he turned 9. For his birthday supper we had Tacos (kids love the Mexican food) with homemade cake and ice cream. He is having his special day tomorrow. He picked out to eat for dinner (Golden Corral)
and movies (Where the Wild Things Are). I'm personally pretty excited about this movie, it looks amazing! This will be the first time Darian has ever been to the movies so he's also really excited.

Well I hope this update is good, it may be a while before I get back to update again. I really do want to update once a week!
