"Are You Listening?"

So every Sunday we go to the library. It's free and the kids love to go there and get books, movies and play with games. Sundays also happen to be my only day off. On this particular Sunday it was Brandon, Alexis, Darian, Gabriel and myself.This was Amaya's weekend at grandma's. Well I'll have to admit that I had been grumpy all day, actually for a couple of days and i just wanted to go and get all the family fun over with all ready. I'm driving the van and Brandon is in the Passenger sent. He is turned around giving the kids the typical pep talk as follows:

Brandon: OK kids, when we get to the library these are the rules 1. No running, Darian if Gabriel starts to run, do not chase him, walk and get him 2. No yelling and be patience we will go to the kid section. This is very important, LISTEN TO MOMMY!! Do not make her repeat herself, if she says something, DO IT!

Does everyone got it.

Kids: yes, got it

We get out of the van and walk in, drop off our stuff from the week before and go into the Adult Fiction section. We pick out movies and I look for books. Well I decide i want to go upstairs to the Non-fiction and of course the boys want to go with me. (We never go upstairs, so they thought it was some forbidden land and really wanted to see it). So we get upstairs and no forbidden land, just more boring books. I go to the catalog computer to look up what I'm trying to find.

Gabriel: I want to look out the window
ME: fine, Darian get over here and stop bothering people
Darian comes back, climbs on the stepping stool.
Me: OK I'm done let's go (Gabriel still looking out the window)
Me: Gabriel, let's go
Gabriel: OK, i remember what dad said
Me: What did Dad say?
Gabriel: If you tell me something, i do it and if i run no one chases me.
Me: Gabriel, hold mommy's hand.

Man, I'm sure glad he didn't test out the run and no ones chases me, especially upstairs. So I find what I'm looking for and ride the elevator back downstairs. Darian takes the stairs, because he doesn't want to get stuck in the elevator. Now we can proceed to the kids section and let them loose. First everyone picks out a movie and then they move to different things. Lexi gets on the computer, Darian goes to play on the pirate ship and Gabriel goes to "pick out a book to read". I sit at the table to watch everyone and open my book and start to read. Of course this doesn't last long.

Gabriel: I have to go pee
ME: Lexi, take your brother to the bathroom
Lexi: (sigh, cuz life is so hard) OK

At this point i should tell you that Gabriel is wearing jean overalls. i go back to reading my book, Darian still playing in the pirate ship. Brandon is MIA. I see Gabey first, huge wet spot on the bib of the overalls. I'm thinking, man he got a drink from the water fountain and got all wet. Then i see Lexi (who looks guilty).

Lexi: Gabriel peed on himself
Me: what? (I start to inspect the "wet spot", how did he do that?)
Lexi: I just took him in there, i let him handle his own business and i guess he missed.
Me: OK, Gabey come here
Gabriel: i peed on myself
Me: I see, how?
Gabriel: I missed
Me: It's OK (what else is there to say, he missed, time to go, but i have to wait for Brandon)

About 5 mins later Brandon appears (feels like 3hours, 23mins, and 42 seconds later).

Me: Gabey come here. Brandon look at his overalls
Brandon: What happened?
Gabriel: I missed

Now he starts to cry and tells Brandon not to look at him, everyone is going to see that he peed. (people do start to look, as you are howling "I peed on myself")

Brandon's solution: Gabriel, put your coat on and zip it up

Gabriel: OK

OK time to go, I really love the library.......c-ya next Sunday.
