Family Update

On 7/12/09 Darian was baptized after being saved during vacation bible school. Here is the video:

On 7/17/09 Brandon had been sick for about a week and finally he felt bad enough to go to the E.R. After about 2 hours we got the diagnosis and is was not good. We found out that he has type 2 diabetes and that at that time his blood sugar was 802. He was in the hospital until Monday afternoon, but he is home now and doing much better. We are just trying to get the diet together. So if anyone out there has any tips just let me know.

  1. You can ask a thousand people, and you'll get a thousand different opinions. Here's my advice:
    1. Your blood glucose meter is your best friend. Use it several times a day, at least at first, and you'll quickly find out which foods are okay, and which aren't.
    2. Don't eat if your blood sugar is over 150, even if you have to skip a meal. If the blood sugar is high, your body already has enough fuel. More will just cause damage.
    3. Try to eat a very low-carb diet, but do eat lower-carb veggies like tomatoes, red bell peppers, celery, avocados, and even a few pecans and walnuts. Use a little olive oil whenever you can.

Best wishes. You're in for an interesting adventure.
